Bachelor of Laws (QUT 1989)
Sean joined Miller Harris in July 1998, following his resignation as a partner with Queensland’s largest independent law firm at that time.
Sean practises exclusively in property, commercial and business law, including:
- Advising on all aspects of companies, trust and joint venture entities
- Business acquisitions and disposals
- Tourism law including advice on plans of management relating to Wet Tropics and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
- Banking and financing matters
- Intellectual property issues including franchising, patents and trademarks
- Estate planning and taxation advice
- Drawing and advising on contracts and agreements in all facets of property, commercial and business law.
Sean acts in many complex business transactions, where his lateral approach to practice is of great value in advancing his clients’ interests. He has acted, for example, in the purchase of an island tourist resort, in a complex transaction involving native title considerations, water infrastructure management, crown leasehold title, GBRMPA jurisdiction, marine permits, transport issues, normal business permits and business entity structuring.
Sean has acted, and continues to act, in an honorary capacity for many local sporting and non-profit clubs and associations. He was a founding member of the Cairns Business Forum Inc., and is a former board member of and continues a strong association with Djarragun College Cairns Ltd, a secondary boarding college with a curriculum catering for the academic and vocational needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Sean is a member of the Tax Institute of Australia and has delivered papers at a number of Tax Institute conventions, including the North Queensland Convention in 2002.
