Personal Property Securities Register

Drawing on over 25 years experience advising North Queensland businesses in the tourism, hospitality and gaming sectors

The Personal Property Securities Act (“PPSA”) is a relatively new way of registering and regulating interests in personal property. Our team at Miller Harris Lawyers are experts in the field, whether you need help in securing your interest, or whether you need advice about your rights as a business operator or consumer.

PPSA replaces long standing securities (such as bills of sale and company charges) and extends to interests which have not previously required registration, such as retention of title interests, chattel leases, and consignments.

The PPSA regulations set out comprehensive (and at times confusing) requirements in relation to valid registration. The consequences for failure to properly register an interest can be extreme, particularly in the case of insolvency. It is important that you get advice to ensure that you are protected.

If you need help navigating through this dynamic area do not hesitate to contact us.

We offer legal advice and services for:
