Sean is an experienced business and commercial lawyer, having practised exclusively in these areas for more than 30 years.

He is one of only a handful of Queensland Law Society accredited business law specialists (Highest Achievement Award winner – 2006) and the only accredited business law specialist practising in Cairns and surrounding districts.

Sean is an experienced lawyer who has, throughout his career, specialised in commercial and property law.  He is a strategic advisor to state and local governments, government owned corporations, public companies and small to medium sized businesses on broad spectrum of commercial matters. Sean takes particular interest in complex commercial transactions, which is a mainstay of his practice.  Sean also assists his clients will matters of corporate governance, risk management and probity.

Sean regularly advises on due diligence matters and all facets of business law (including merger, acquisition and the structuring and restructuring of business and commercial enterprises).

Over the years, Sean has played a leading role in many of the region’s larger and more complex transactional matters in the areas of business and property (including agricultural property).

As a leading Cairns based lawyer, Sean has a wealth of experience in legal issues associated with all aspects of tourism and accommodation, agribusiness and primary industry and the Seaport.

He has detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements and laws pertaining to foreign investment, water rights and allocations and revenue implications (particularly stamp duty, capital gains tax and goods and services tax) connected with transactional and commercial dealings.

Sean also advises regularly on business succession and estate planning matters.

In his role as a commercial lawyer, Sean is a skilled contract lawyer and acts for some of the larger participants in the construction and building industry in North Queensland

Sean is well versed in the area of commercial disputes, steps appropriately taken towards the minimisation of the risk of dispute and, where dispute is unavoidable, framing agreements in a way to achieve efficient mechanisms for dispute resolution.
