Tara Taubenschlag

Tara Taubenschlag is one of two guest speakers for our 2017 Send Hope Not Flowers fundraising lunch.

Tara has worked in government relations, communications and journalism for more than 15 years. She is the Managing Director of CMAX Advisory, a business advisory, government relations and strategic communications firm which operates throughout Australia and North America.

Prior to her career with CMAX Advisory, Tara worked as a print and television journalist both nationally and internationally. She began her career with News Limited in East Timor and helped establish the East Timor Free Press Foundation following the independence referendum in 2000, receiving an Australian Government Award in recognition for her volunteer work there. Tara has also worked as broadcast journalist, producing and presenting news and current affairs programs for Sky News and Channel Ten.

As a business leader, Tara feels a strong sense of commitment and responsibility to her community and assists a number of non-profit and community organisations with their PR needs on a pro-bono basis, which is how she connected with Send Hope Not Flowers.

Following a difficult birth of her first daughter, Tara began to research maternal health outcomes internationally and felt a strong need to do more. Tara met co-founders, Professor Steve Robson and Emma Macdonald at Parliament House prior to the charity’s official launch in 2012, and has worked tirelessly to build the charity and improve maternal health outcomes since then.

Tara sits on the Board of Send Hope Not Flowers, and is part of the Founding Board of Women in Media Canberra. She loves country life and spreads her time between work in Canberra and her farm in Bungendore with her husband, two daughters, and golden retriever.
